About City of Leeds Pipe Band
City of Leeds Pipe Band is a registered charity based in Thorner, Leeds. Our mission is to bring people together through piping and drumming: offering free tuition to beginners, helping players develop, and sharing live music at community events across Leeds and Yorkshire.
Our mission and aims
We make piping and drumming accessible to new learners, support members as they build musical skills, and bring pipe band music to community and public events. Beginners can learn bagpipes or pipe band drumming with free tuition. Experienced pipers and drummers are welcome to join.
Our history and community
Founded in 1960, City of Leeds Pipe Band is a volunteer band affiliated with the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association. We practise at Victory Hall in Thorner and perform at parades, civic occasions, remembrance events, charity fundraisers, and community celebrations. Event bookings help sustain the charity and support its teaching programme.
