If you are looking for a great evening of family fun, then you’ll be pleased to know that Wetherby are having their annual Christmas Lights Switch On and Market event on 23rd November 2017, all the fun starts at 6pm.<\/p>\n

Held around the Town Hall, there is lots of entertainment. With fun for all the family and a full market which will be taking part in the evening\u2019s events. You won\u2019t be able to miss the fairground rides, hot food and true \u2018Switch On\u2019 tradition. Don’t forget we will also be there closing festivities.<\/p>\n

The City of Leeds Pipe Band will be along to close the event at 8pm<\/p>\n

Wetherby is a market town and civil parish within the City of Leeds metropolitan borough, in West Yorkshire, England. It stands on the River Wharfe, and has been for centuries a crossing place and staging post on the A1 Great North Road, being mid-way between London and Edinburgh. It has a population of 11,155.<\/p>\n

Historically a part of the Wapentake of Skyrack within the West Riding of Yorkshire, Wetherby is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Wedrebi, thought to derive from wether- or ram-farm or else meaning “settlement on the bend of a river”.<\/p>\n

Wetherby Bridge, which spans the River Wharfe, is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade II listed structure.
