Yorkshire Marathon 2017
October 8, 2017
The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon has quickly established itself as one of the highlights of the White Rose County’s sporting year. This popular and picturesque run, with fantastic PB potential, takes participants past some of York’s splendid historic sites and along scenic country lanes, making it an attractive prospect for runners of all abilities and the City of Leeds Pipe Band will be there once again to support those taking part!
Described by the Daily Mirror as the ‘Number 1 Alternative to London’, the Guardian also rated it as a perfect run to ‘nail your PB!’.
See the marathon’s rating on Runner’s World.
Achieve a coveted personal best or simply be spurred on by great support and entertainment around the route – The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon has all the ingredients to make this an unforgettable experience. To get a flavour of the marathon take a look at the short video below!
The marathon proved a hit from the word go, with all 6,000+ places for the inaugural 2013 event snapped up in just 3 days. Athletes – professional and amateur – came from not only across the UK but from France, Spain, Ireland, the USA, Africa and the Caribbean. Capacity was increased to 7,000 in 2014 and the event was again a complete sell-out, with all spots being taken within five hours.
And for those people who find the idea of taking on the full 26.2 miles too daunting, the inclusion of the Yorkshire Marathon Corporate Relay in the ‘running schedule’ offers the chance for teams to get involved, too. Groups of friends or colleagues can complete the course in relay form – each sharing a section of the 26.2-mile course while soaking up the unique atmosphere of a marathon race day. Entries for the 2017 Yorkshire Marathon Corporate Relay are now open. Click here to enter now!
A huge army of volunteers also contributes to ensuring that the event is one that lives long in the memory. Their efforts help create an experience of which the whole of Yorkshire can be proud.
The marathon is staged by Marathon Yorkshire Ltd, a sister company to Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All; the organisation behind the popular Leeds, Hull, York, Nottingham and Burnley 10Ks and the Leeds Half Marathon and Yorkshire Half Marathon-Sheffield. The well-regarded Run For All brand has already become synonymous with well-organised, quality sporting events throughout Yorkshire and the North of England and The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon is no different.
