SUMMARY:Otley Victorian Christmas Fayre
DESCRIPTION:The first Fayre was held in 1985 and was an immediate success. \nOver the years the volunteer committee members have come and gone. All have worked tirelessly to ensure that the Fayre stays true to the aims that were set down by its founders. \nThe organisation of the Fayre was passed to Otley Town Partnership in 2011. \nOtley Town Partnership (OTP) is a voluntary organisation\, led by a Board of Directors\, which undertakes a broad range of community based activities to promote Otley for the benefit of the town. Most famously they run both the monthly Otley Farmer’s Market and the annual Food and Drink Festival. \nAlan Furze was a dedicated volunteer with the fayre and sadly passed away in 2016. He left a small sum of money for the group to encourage everyone taking part to dress in Victorian Costume. We established the “Alan Furze Memorial Cup” in his memory. It is awarded on the day of the Fayre to either a business or stall that\, in the opinion of the team\, have gone the extra mile to represent the “Spirit” of the event.
