FAREWELL ALAN PEGLER – Flying Scotsman

This very special trip has been organised as a final journey to honour Alan Pegler, the man who bought Flying Scotsman from British Railways and saved her from the scrapyard. The loco with which he will forever be associated, is taking the trip from London to York and as Alan requested, his ashes will be scattered in the firebox as his beloved loco climbs hard up Stoke Bank.

All passengers will be greeted by the City of Leeds Pipe Band at York station as well as receiving a commemorative Farewell Alan Pegler brochure showing pictures and words of his life and times with Flying Scotsman not just in the UK, but her journeys overseas as well.

This trip will be steam hauled on the outward journey and diesel hauled on the return.
