Battles O’er – A Nations Tribute

Pipers from the City of Leeds Pipe Band will be taking part in the first element of a Day of Commemorative Events, running from 06:00 to 19:05, will mark the Centenary of the end of the First World War and pay tribute to the millions killed or wounded in battle, including those on the home front who struggled amidst pain and loss to help ensure freedom survived.
06.00: Battle’s O’er
Over 2,000 individual Pipers across the United Kingdom and countries around the world commence the day’s commemorations with the traditional Scottish lament played at the end of battle – Battle’s O’er.
There will be pipers at the following locations:
- St Annes Cathedral
- Temple Newsam
- Horsforth Cenotaph
- Pudsey Cenotaph
- St Wilfrid’s Parish Church, Calverly
- Holme Valley War Memorial, Holmfirth
- Clifford War Memorial. Clifford, Wetherby
- Drighlington
- Conisbrough Castle
